Summer Festival dances into another year

When Marco Mancinelli stepped onto the dance floor Sunday at the Top of the Park, he gave the crowds his whole heart: ""Known to some as the Umbrella Man, Mancinelli visited the Ann Arbor Summer Festival on the weekends this year, energetically jumping, dancing and waving umbrellas and pinwheels to the beat of the music.
He was there again Sunday, dancing for the crowds during the festival’s final night.
“I’m doing this like there’s a deep burning passion within me,” Mancinelli said. “I’m totally expressing what’s in my heart.
Maybe people will look at me and it will break down some inhibitions and they can just be free.”
Mancinelli was one of the regulars among a smorgasbord of people who danced in front of the nightly performances of the three-week entertainment festival.
As the sun set over the festival Sunday, electric guitars squealed and echoed off nearby buildings and the seating areas filled for the last events. People ate and drank, listened to the bands, and watched the dancers move to the music on Ingalls Mall near the Burton Memorial Tower, the festival’s new venue.
