Apple Showcase Presented by MacTechnics

Join us to discuss the latest Apple devices, software and all things Mac. Participants are encouraged to stay after the event to ask questions, discuss the latest Apple products and learn more about MacTechnics.

This event is in partnership with MacTechnics, the Ann Arbor Apple Users Group. The MacTechnics have served the residents of Ann Arbor for over 30 years, providing education and training and demonstrating new uses for Apple gear and related software and accessories.

Science Fun with FEMMES

Saturday January 27, 2018: 11:00 am to 12:30 pm -- Westgate Branch: West Side Room

This event is intended for grade 2 - 6

The University of Michigan student group FEMMES (Females Excelling More in Math, Engineering and Science) will bring a variety of hands-on, engaging activities for young students interested in learning more about STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) topics.

Common household items will be used to demonstrate experiments and simulations to learn about biology, geology, industrial engineering, and much more.

This event is cosponsored by FEMMES, a group of undergraduate and graduate students who are studying various areas in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics and who want to encourage younger girls who might be interested in one day doing the same.

This event is intended for grade 6 - adult

Join us for a directed physical computing activity. Be sure to check aadl.org for themes and projects, and bring a flash drive if you want to save any code we create!

Today we will have a Microprocessor/Microcontroller Showdown! In this interactive demo, you can try out basic "Hello World" programs on several different boards (Raspberry Pi, Arduino, Micro:bit, Flora, Espruino) and learn what projects each board is best suited for and how they differ.

Kids Coding Hour!

Saturday February 10, 2018: 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm -- Downtown Library: Training Center

This event is intended for grade 3-8

Come hang with other kids while playing around with code. We will provide basic instruction and support to build apps using BitsBox, or you can come work on your own project in your preferred language. Absolutely no coding experience required. Computers will be provided.
