Be the Change: Stories and Crafts for First Steps in Social Justice

Saturday January 13, 2018: 10:00 am to 10:45 am -- Westgate Branch: West Side Room

This event is intended for grade K - 5

Mindfulness Instructor Grace Helms Kotre will read the picture book Skin Again by bell hooks and lead a brief discussion about how and why skin color varies.

Children will be invited to explore objects that match their own skin tone and create a self portrait with fun craft materials.

Parent resources on discussing race with young children will be provided.

Kids Coding Hour!

Saturday January 13, 2018: 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm -- Downtown Library: Training Center

This event is intended for grade 3-8

Come hang with other kids while playing around with code. We will provide basic instruction and support to build apps using BitsBox, or you can come work on your own project in your preferred language. Absolutely no coding experience required. Computers will be provided.
