Recalling that special show

Summer Festival nears its 20th year, and The News would like to know what your favorite performance was

By The News entertainment staff

Maybe it was Sonny Rollins in 2001.

Maybe it was Willie Nelson in 1994 or Ray Charles in 1991.

Maybe it was one of multiple appearances by Marcel Marceau, Gordon Lightfoot or Mel Torme.

Or maybe it was Pilobolus all the way back at the beginning, in 1984.

As the Ann Arbor Summer Festival approaches its landmark 20th anniversary season this year, The News would like to hear what your all-time favorite Summer Festival performance was.

If you send us your pick for the best Summer Festival show - headline acts only, please, to keep things manageable - we’ll print a sampling of the results. Just send us your name, town of residence, phone number (which we won’t publish), name and year (if you can remember) of the act, and up to 50 words on why that show is your favorite or what you remember about it Some of the responses will appear in our June 8 edition.

If you need a little incentive, we will randomly choose one of the respondents and treat the winner to four free tickets to a Summer Festival show of their choice this year.

Send your thoughts and information to us in any one of the following ways: E-mail (preferred) to review® annarbornews.com.

Fax to (734) 994-6879.

Mail to Summer Festival Memories, Entertainment Desk, The Ann Arbor News, P.O. Box 1147, Ann Arbor, MI 48106.

Responses must be in our hands by the end of the day May 30 to be considered.
